Sep Timber

By: Brandon Elliott

Filtered through the footsteps,
walked a thousand miles;
tried to catch my breath, but
lost my grip all the while.

I shouted with sincerity,
even whispered when it was calm
Where did forgiveness disappear to?
-- Before you detonate that bomb;

If I could do anything good enough
I'd do it all for you.
If I could take back yesterday,
If I could collect the morning dew:

I'd save you in a heartbeat,
with a chin held high and strong.
I'd take the blame for everything,
I'd sing you your favorite song

I dissected the world frantically,
even set my mind ablaze
What would it take to rescue you?
-- Before you blow up those roadways;

If I could help you in any way,
I'd do it all the time.
If I had no pennies left to give,
I'd give you every dime

Filtered through the emptiness,
how far is there left to fall?
tried to catch the leaves one by one
You probably don't even recall

Give them an inch, and they'll take a mile
so I'm just giving it my all.
